JCVAP Poby L Electric Dab Rig The Puffco Proxy Killer reviewed by SebyG

Introduction

If you’re tired of spending outrageous amounts of money on electric e-rigs that are likely to fade away after a year or two, then this blog is for you.

Today, we’ll discuss one of the latest drops that is being touted as the Puffco Proxy killer. Yes, you heard that right! Before we dive into it, make sure you are subscribed to the channel and leave a like to help with the algorithm.

Introducing the Poby L Electric Rig by JC Vapor

The device we’ll be reviewing today is the Poby L Electric Rig by JCVAP. It’s priced at around $125, but they offer an affiliate code, so you can potentially get it for even less. I’ve heard a lot of hype about this device, with many people asking me to try it, so here we are!

First Impressions

At first glance, the Poby L appears to be a direct competitor to the Puffco Proxy. It’s slightly larger, but the design is quite similar, with a base unit attached to a Gandalf pipe-like piece.

This device offers a very budget-friendly option compared to the Puffco Proxy, which retails for around $300. But is the lower price tag worth it? Let’s find out.

Unboxing

The Poby L comes in a sleek case, much like Puffco’s, but with a grainier texture. Inside the case, you’ll find:

  • The main unit
  • A dabber tool
  • A cleaning tool
  • A charger
  • Some swabs

The device itself feels bulkier and denser than the Puffco Proxy, but it has a clear, sleek design, allowing you to see the vaporization process in real-time.

Design & Features

One of the standout features of the Poby L is its 5D atomizer, which burns oil at 360 degrees, ensuring consistent vaporization from all angles. This design helps maximize both vaporization and flavor.

The device offers six different heat settings:

  • Blue: 480°F (my preferred setting for dabs)
  • Green: 500°F
  • Yellow: 515°F
  • Red: 525°F
  • Purple: 545°F
  • White: 580°F

This range of temperatures allows for maximum versatility, whether you’re looking for bigger clouds or richer flavor.

Performance and Battery Life

With a 5000mAh battery, the Poby L provides about 40 puffs per charge, which is quite solid for its size. The charging process is straightforward, and turning the device on and off is as simple as holding down the button. You can also cycle through the heat settings by clicking the button three times.

Initial Test & Flavor

After priming the atomizer, I loaded up the device with some cookies and cream concentrate and gave it a go. The first hit wasn’t as cloudy as expected, but the flavor was exceptional. As the device heated up more, the cloud production increased, and the flavor remained top-notch.

Pros and Cons

While I enjoyed my experience with the Poby L, I did notice a minor flaw in the carb cap. It doesn’t swivel as well as it should, so I ended up using a carb cap from the Puffco Proxy, which worked perfectly. I believe JC Vapor could easily fix this issue with future iterations.

On the bright side, the Poby L delivers on many fronts:

  • Great vapor and flavor production
  • Solid build quality
  • Six customizable heat settings
  • Budget-friendly price point

Is It Really a Puffco Proxy Killer?

This is where the conversation gets interesting. The Poby L is indeed larger and bulkier than the Puffco Proxy, but at less than half the price, you’re saving a substantial amount of money.

While the Puffco Proxy is more compact, the Poby L offers a larger chamber and delivers on all fronts. If you can live with the slightly bigger design, the Poby L might just be the Proxy killer we’ve been waiting for.

Final Thoughts

After testing the device at a higher wattage, I was blown away by the cloud production and flavor retention. For a small, portable device, the Poby L performs remarkably well.

So, what’s my final rating? I’d give the Poby L Electric Rig a solid 8.7 out of 10. It’s user-friendly, functional, and offers great value for the price.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative to the Puffco Proxy, this device should definitely be on your radar.
